Because if you don't learn how to listen to your body now, how to cope with emotions without food now, and how to stop eating when you feel full now, what makes you think that's going to be any easier in a smaller body? It only keeps you in the cycle longer.

You don't need to eliminate your desire to lose weight to start. Instead, let's dive into where that desire is coming from. Here are the areas I like to look at:

▪️PHYSICAL: Is it to feel stronger? More energized? To be able to do more?
▪️SOCIAL: Is it to be liked more? To have more attention? To boost confidence with others?
▪️EMOTIONAL: Is it to feel better about yourself? Is it to prove to others you are worthy?

Once you have taken time to think about what you are after, we can see where to focus our attention.

If you answered:

  • PHYSICAL: I want to feel stronger, have more energy, and be able to do more.
  • Rather than killing yourself with a diet, FOCUS ON: ADDING IN! Where can you add in more fruits and veg? Where can you add more movement? More self-care? More sleep?

If you answered:

  • SOCIAL: I want to lose weight because I want to be like more. And I want to wear other clothes. I want others to pay more attention to me. I want to feel more confident with others.
  • Rather than killing yourself with a diet, FOCUS ON: Healing those deeper emotions because your body has nothing to do with this. And you will find that true when no weight loss ever feels like enough.

If you answered:

  • EMOTIONAL: I want to stop hating myself. I want to feel better about who I am.
  • Rather than killing yourself with a diet, FOCUS ON: Again healing those deeper emotions causing this deep rooted shame because that has nothing to do with your body.. And AGAIN, you will find that to be true when no weight loss ever feels like enough.
