Here are 3 healthy living tips, 2 book recommendations (one self-improvement and one fun), and 1 journal prompt to ponder this week!

Can’t stop late night snacking? 5 possible reasons:

  • Not eating enough during the day (ie – you’re just hungry)
  • Not eating balanced meals during the day (ie. – your body is looking for more nutrient density)
  • Not feeling satisfied by your food (ie. – your mind is still hungry, even if your stomach is full)
  • Unmet emotional needs you’re looking to fill with food (ie. – you’re coping with food)
  • Poor Body Image (ie. – You’re falling into ‘f-it mode’ or ‘I’ll just be better tomorrow’ eating)

You know you’re recovering from binge eating when… old trigger foods no longer faze you.

You fear letting go of the scale and counting calories in fear of ‘losing control’ .. but if you’re using those things and repeatedly binge eating and obsessing over food, are you really in control now?

SELF-IMPROVEMENT

BURNOUT by Emily and Amelia Nagoski

This book. THIS BOOK. As someone who is chronically stressed (thank you people-pleasing, over-committing, and inability to say no 😭 *working on it*) this book was a gift. Not only is it packed with information about why you feel the way you feel when stressed, but it also gives you tangible solutions on what to do about it. If you struggle with stress, look no further, this is your next read!

FOR FUN

MALIBU RISING by Taylor Jenkins Reid

This is your classic ‘lounging-in-the-sun’ read. It is light, it is fun, and it is SOOO good.

Quick Synopsis from Amazon: Malibu: August 1983. It’s the day of Nina Riva’s annual end-of-summer party, and anticipation is at a fever pitch. Everyone wants to be around the famous Rivas: Nina, the talented surfer and supermodel; brothers Jay and Hud, one a championship surfer, the other a renowned photographer; and their adored baby sister, Kit. Together the siblings are a source of fascination in Malibu and the world over—especially as the offspring of the legendary singer Mick Riva.

By midnight the party will be completely out of control. By morning, the Riva mansion will have gone up in flames. But before that first spark in the early hours before dawn, the alcohol will flow, the music will play, and the loves and secrets that shaped this family’s generations will all come rising to the surface.

What cheers you up on a tough day?

Write it out. Then put it in a place you can reference the next time you are having a tough day.
