I’m a recovered binge eater who changed the story from something that happened to me to something that happened for me. Now, I’m a licensed therapist teaching you to do the same.
My mission? To help you ditch food stress and live your life with mental peace and freedom every single day!
So many say they want to lose weight to feel more confident. Here’s the problem: confidence isn’t a magic switch that flips when you reach a certain body size. It’s a skill that you build, create, and get better at. Even if you reach your ideal body, true confidence won’t come unless you actively work on it.
If you felt more confident in a smaller body, consider whether it was true confidence or just feeling better about yourself. Confidence is about more than appearance; it’s about how you handle judgment, self-doubt, and comparison.
Confidence isn’t inherent; some people appear more confident because they care less about others’ opinions. The fear of judgment holds us back. But when you practice authenticity, realizing the world won’t collapse, you build the skill of confidence.
Confidence is Uncomfortable at First
Building confidence is akin to learning to ride a bike or swim. It starts with worry, fear of failure, fear of judgment, and discomfort. But with practice, it becomes second nature. The same applies to deeper-rooted emotions keeping you from showing up authentically.
The fear of what others think is a major obstacle to confidence. Once you care less about others’ opinions and practice being your authentic self, you’ll start to feel empowered. Judgment is inevitable, but it says more about others than it does about you.
Confidence isn’t a passive state; it’s about actively choosing to be vulnerable and showing up as you are. It’s realizing that the world doesn’t crumble when you step out of your comfort zone. Practicing confidence means doing things that make you feel alive, regardless of others’ judgments.
Saying you’ll be confident when you lose weight is a distraction. The real issue is not being okay with showing up in your current body. Embrace yourself today. You can’t change your current body, but you can choose to live fully in it.
To become more confident, you must heal from deeper fears—fears of judgment, failure, rejection. Identify these fears and work through them. Once you heal, practice showing up as your authentic self. Everything else will build from that, irrespective of your body changes.
Life is passing by. Don’t keep saying no to experiences, waiting until you lose weight. Start practicing confidence now. Say yes to the beach days, vacations, dinner parties—embrace your life today.
Confidence is a journey, not a destination tied to your body size. Challenge yourself to show up a little more as you today. It’s not about lacking confidence; it’s about not being okay with who you are. Cut out the noise, declare your worth, and embrace yourself now, in this body, today.
