Ryann Nicole The Perspective Shift

Hey There, I'm Ryann Nicole.

I’m a recovered binge eater who changed the story from something that happened to me to something that happened for me. Now, I’m a licensed therapist teaching you to do the same.

My mission? To help you ditch food stress and live your life with mental peace and freedom every single day!

The Perspective Shift

Welcome to The Perspective Shift! A weekly newsletter by Ryann Nicole designed to help you see food, your body, and healthy living in a whole new light.

“I’ll never be able to do that”

Between you and me, I have this big dream: I want to have a well-known podcast.

So, naturally, I’ve been doing some research. Listening to big-name podcasters, hearing their stories of how they got to where they are. And you know what happened?

I started to kick myself down.

“I’ll never be able to do that.”

“There’s no way I could get there.”

“How could I ever do that?”

(Yep, even I do it too.)

Suddenly, all I could see was the giant mountain in front of me—the one I’d have to climb to make this dream a reality. And instead of feeling inspired, I felt stuck.

And that got me thinking…

Something To Think About

Sometimes, when we’re standing at the bottom of the mountain, all we see is how big it is.

We look at the top—the goal, the dream, the outcome—and suddenly, every step we take feels small and insignificant. We tell ourselves, “I’m so far behind, why bother?”

But the only way to climb a mountain is one step at a time.

When we fixate on the entire journey, we overwhelm ourselves. But when we focus on just the next step—that one small action in front of us—it suddenly becomes doable.

The top of the mountain will take care of itself as long as we keep moving.

Something To Ask Yourself

Where in your life are you looking at the entire mountain instead of focusing on your next step?

Is it in your relationship with food, feeling like recovery is too far away?

Is it in a big goal you’ve set that feels completely out of reach?

Is it in a dream you’ve been too afraid to start because you can’t see how you’ll finish?

Something To Try

This week, identify one area where you feel stuck or overwhelmed.

Then, instead of thinking about the big picture, focus on just one small step you can take today.

  • If you’re working on binge recovery, maybe your step is put all your food on a plate.
  • If you’re chasing a dream, maybe it’s spending 10 minutes brainstorming ideas or sending one email.
  • If you’re overwhelmed by a habit you want to build, shrink it down to something small—so small you can’t say no.

Every step, no matter how small, brings you closer to the top. You don’t have to know every single step of the climb. You just have to take the next one.

So let’s take a breath, look at where our feet are planted, and move forward—one step at a time.

I’m cheering for you every step of the way.

NEW THIS WEEK

How To Get What You Want + Change Your Life

Whether you’re listening at the end of the year or just on a random Tuesday, this episode is for anyone who’s ready to stop setting goals they never follow through on.

Instead of: “I’ll just get back on track after the new year.”

Honestly, I get it. That thought feels safe. It feels like you’re still “in control” in the midst of being “out of control” because the intention to pull it back together IS there. But how many times has that mindset set you up for a week-long binge bender?

Things to tell yourself when you can’t stop obsessing over what you just ate.

his is simple, but NOT easy: you’ve got to stop making what you ate mean so freakin’ much.

See ya next week!

xx, Ry
