I’m a recovered binge eater who changed the story from something that happened to me to something that happened for me. Now, I’m a licensed therapist teaching you to do the same.
My mission? To help you ditch food stress and live your life with mental peace and freedom every single day!
Welcome to The Perspective Shift! A weekly newsletter by Ryann Nicole designed to help you see food, your body, and healthy living in a whole new light.
The other day, I was scrolling through my DMs, and one message really hit home. Someone asked, “Why do I feel like I have to finish the entire meal when I order something ‘bad’ at a restaurant?”
Honestly, I used to struggle with this exact thing too. You go out, order fries, pizza, or whatever you’ve been avoiding, and suddenly, you’re eating it all—even if you’re full. It’s like you can’t stop yourself because you’re already thinking, “Tomorrow, I’ll be good.”
And that got me thinking…
Why are we so quick to ask, “Why am I doing this?” when it comes to food, instead of asking, “Why am I feeling this way?” The labels we place on food—good, bad, healthy, unhealthy—keep us focused on what we’re doing rather than what’s driving us emotionally.
Next time you’re out and feeling that urge to finish everything on your plate, pause. Ask yourself, “What’s going on in my head right now? What am I making this meal mean?”
Take one of those foods you’ve labeled as “bad,” and remove the label. Eat it without judgment, without the pressure to “be good tomorrow.” Just sit down, enjoy it, and notice how it feels to let go of the labels.
What its like to be controlled by food (the cake vid!)
This has nothingggg to do with your willpower or self-control. I’m going to say that again 🗣️ THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH YOUR WILLPOWER OR SELF-CONTROL
Ep5. Why You Keep Bingeing Even When You Want To Stop
I want to tell you a story about one of my clients, Kerri, who was in my Spring cohort of BEU. Her journey really highlights why so many people struggle to break out of the relentless diet/binge cycle, even though they so badly want to stop!
Why Getting Really Full Makes You Want To Eat More
f getting really full triggers a binge, here’s what you need to know: The issue isn’t the fullness itself—everyone gets really full sometimes!
