👻 Happy  Halloween! 🎃 Give me allll the pumpkin-shaped Reese’s please!!! Is it just me, or do they taste so much better than the regular ones? There’s something about those festive shapes that makes candy feel like a whole experience.

And that got me thinking…

Something To Think About

So much of what we’re taught about health focuses on control, on willpower, on “earning” the right to enjoy food. We’re led to think health is about restriction and strict rules, especially around things like candy, where we feel we have to prove our “self-control.”

But what if health wasn’t about control at all?

What if, instead of being the voice that says “no” to another candy bar, health was actually the voice that reminds you it’s okay to trust yourself with it? That your self-worth doesn’t shrink with each wrapper in the bin.

Something To Ask Yourself

When it comes to food and your body, what beliefs have you been carrying that make you feel you need to “prove” something? What stories are holding you back from enjoying the small things, like a couple of chocolates, without guilt or shame?

Something To Try

This Halloween, try this: let yourself enjoy a piece of candy—or a few pieces—without self-judgment. Practice noticing the taste, the texture, the enjoyment. If you start to feel guilt creep in, remind yourself that one treat doesn’t define you or your worth.

Let this be a step toward redefining health—not as control, but as freedom and trust in yourself. Because real health? It’s being able to enjoy a chocolate bar without needing an explanation or excuse.
