I’m a recovered binge eater who changed the story from something that happened to me to something that happened for me. Now, I’m a licensed therapist teaching you to do the same.
My mission? To help you ditch food stress and live your life with mental peace and freedom every single day!
Welcome to The Perspective Shift! A weekly newsletter by Ryann Nicole designed to help you see food, your body, and healthy living in a whole new light.
Something you might not know about me is that I’m an introvert through and through 🤫
So as I sit here on Friday after a week packed with consultation calls for BEU, BEU coaching calls, free live coaching, podcast interviews, and mentorship sessions, I am feeling drainedddd.
And it’s not because of the calls—I loved every single moment. It’s because I’m just a person who needs downtime to recharge and I didn’t get a lot of that this week.
And as I’m writing this (a day later than usual, sorry!), I can’t deny that there’s a part of me that feels “weak” for being so tired.
And that got me thinking…
There’s this unspoken expectation that we should be able to give 100% all the time, to everyone, and in every area of our lives.
But even when we’re doing work we love—work that feels aligned, purposeful, and energizing—it still takes energy.
We’re humans, not machines. And even the most meaningful work (or the most fun experiences) requires time to recover, recharge, and simply be.
What if instead of judging ourselves for needing rest, we honored it as part of the process?
Why is that so hard to do?
Where did you get the message that needing rest means you’re lazy, weak, or falling behind? Who or what taught you that slowing down was something to feel guilty about?
And most importantly—can you think about rest in a different way? What if rest wasn’t a sign of weakness but a sign of strength? What if it’s the foundation that allows you to show up as your best self?
This week, give yourself permission to pause.
Identify one moment in your schedule where you can create space. Whether it’s an extra 10 minutes in the morning to sip your coffee or an evening where you let yourself say no to plans.
When you notice yourself feeling drained, try saying:
“It’s okay to pause. Rest is productive, too.”
Let this be the reminder that recharging isn’t a sign of weakness; it’s what allows us to show up again, fully present and energized.

“Do you feel sad or bummed when you finish a meal?”
Things that soooo many of my clients share, yet they think it’s only them that feel this way. It’s not.
If you binge because the food was just really delicious…
It’s never about the food itself—it’s about uncovering *why* you’re reaching for it. Understanding the WHY behind your binges is the real game-changer.
See ya next week!
