I’m a recovered binge eater who changed the story from something that happened to me to something that happened for me. Now, I’m a licensed therapist teaching you to do the same.
My mission? To help you ditch food stress and live your life with mental peace and freedom every single day!
Welcome to The Perspective Shift! A weekly newsletter by Ryann Nicole designed to help you see food, your body, and healthy living in a whole new light.
I have to start with an apology—sorry for going MIA on this newsletter for the last two weeks 🤦♀️
It wasn’t intentional, I promise. Thanksgiving came and went in a blur, Charlotte had RSV, I was onboarding multiple clients… and before I knew it, I realized I’d completely forgotten about this newsletter.
And here’s the thing: I love writing this newsletter. It’s one of my favorite ways to connect with you, to share thoughts and reflections that, hopefully, feel like a little piece of encouragement in your day.
And that got me thinking…
When we talk about consistency, we often make it feel big. Like it’s this giant commitment we have to nail every single day, or else we’ve failed.
But what if consistency could start small?
I mean so small that it almost feels laughable. Like drinking a single glass of water, doing one push-up, or taking just one deep breath before you dive into your busy day.
Here’s the magic of starting small: when it’s so small you can’t say no, you stick to it. And that’s the secret to building momentum.
Consistency doesn’t have to be about big, perfect streaks—it’s about creating a rhythm that’s realistic and sustainable. It’s about showing up, even if all you’re doing is one tiny thing at a time.
Think about a time when you tried to change too much at once.
What happened? Did you feel overwhelmed? Did the pressure to do it all perfectly cause you to give up entirely?
Now think about this:
If you let go of the idea of instant change, what would it look like to just start small?
What’s one area where you might be expecting too much of yourself right now?
This week, pick one small thing you want to be consistent with—and I mean small. Like, ridiculously small.
If you want to move more, commit to one push-up or a single lap around the living room.
If you want to hydrate, start with one glass of water.
If you want to feel more grounded, try taking just one deep breath when you wake up.
Whatever it is, make it so laughably easy that you can’t say no.
And when you stick to it, take a moment to celebrate that small win.
Because guess what? Those small wins add up. And they remind you that consistency isn’t about doing everything perfectly—it’s about starting, even if it’s tiny.
I’m so glad to be back in your inbox, and I hope this week feels just a little lighter knowing you don’t have to do it all—just one small thing at a time.
Marriage is HARD with Relationship Therapist Catherine Solomon
In this episode, Catherine shares her refreshingly honest take on why relationships can feel so hard, how to reconnect when life gets busy, and why no one teaches us how to communicate (but we all feel like we should just know).
“How do I know when I’m hungry?”
When you’ve spent so long ignoring your body’s signals those signals get harder to hear. It’s not that intuitive eating didn’t work. It’s that you tried it before you were ready.
Easy To Spot Reasons To Criticize when…
Your relationship with food is shaped by your thoughts. Watch them closely because they hold the power to keep you stuck—or to set you free. 🌱
