I’m a recovered binge eater who changed the story from something that happened to me to something that happened for me. Now, I’m a licensed therapist teaching you to do the same.
My mission? To help you ditch food stress and live your life with mental peace and freedom every single day!
Are you tired of grueling workouts that leave you feeling drained and dreading your next exercise session? I hear you! For years, I used to push myself through workouts that felt more like punishment than fun. I used exercise as a way to make up for overindulging, to cope with body insecurities, and to chase that elusive number on the scale.
I was essentially trapped in a never-ending cycle, sweating it out while my enthusiasm and enjoyment vanished. It hit me one day: this wasn’t the way fitness was supposed to be. I was trading life’s joy for calorie burn, and it had to change.
The realization? Workouts can be a source of delight. Yes, you heard it right – they can become the highlight of your day. It’s all about the approach. Here’s how I revamped my relationship with exercise:
Let’s start with something simple but game-changing: the way we talk about it. Instead of “working out” or “exercising,” I now call it “training” or “movement.” This small shift in language completely transforms the vibe around physical activity. It’s not about burning calories anymore; it’s about relishing how your body feels.
So, the next time you lace up those sneakers, ask yourself, “Am I here to move my body, or am I here to burn calories?” When the answer leans towards the latter, it’s time to reconsider and find alternative self-care activities.
Ditch the weight loss goals, seriously. I’ve found that setting goals related to endurance, strength, and energy levels has been incredibly motivating. These goals focus on your body’s capabilities and performance rather than its appearance. It shifts the focus from external to internal changes and makes the entire journey more fulfilling.
Variety is the spice of life, and it applies perfectly to your fitness routine. Doing the same thing day in and day out can get monotonous and make you dread your workouts. So, when you’re feeling uninspired, it’s a sign that you need to switch things up. If you’ve been crushing those high-intensity workouts, consider exploring some low-intensity activities or vice versa. Keep things fresh and exciting.
Now, this is a game-changer. If you’ve ever felt like you needed to earn your food through exercise, it’s time to break free from this mindset. When you release the notion that you have to “burn off” every calorie you consume, it’s incredibly liberating. This shift creates space for you to relish your workouts for what they are – a blessing for your body and mind, not a chore to justify your meals.
So, there you have it – a path to making your workouts the most enjoyable part of your day. Remember, it’s all about embracing a new perspective and choosing to celebrate your body and its capabilities. Say goodbye to the punishment and hello to the joy of moving and training your incredible self. Your body and your spirit will thank you!
