I’m a recovered binge eater who changed the story from something that happened to me to something that happened for me. Now, I’m a licensed therapist teaching you to do the same.
My mission? To help you ditch food stress and live your life with mental peace and freedom every single day!
Welcome to The Perspective Shift! A weekly newsletter by Ryann Nicole designed to help you see food, your body, and healthy living in a whole new light.
Charlotte is 1—ahhh! Who was here when she was born?! We celebrated this weekend with family and friends, and seriously, I don’t know where the time has gone.
Here’s a quick picture of cake time (which she hated, by the way). There was a massive meltdown right after this. 🙃
It’s wild because I feel like this past year has been the longest year and the shortest year of my life at the same time. And honestly, I’m not sure I remember much of it (thanks, mom brain and stress and things moving so fast 😅).
But it got me reflecting on time and how I’m spending mine. Am I doing the things that really matter, or am I getting swept up in the chaos and distractions?
And that got me thinking…
We act like we have all the time in the world when it comes to prioritizing ourselves or putting ourselves first, but we live like we don’t. We rush, we panic, we stress about getting things done—and yet, we waste time like it’s infinite. We put everyone else’s needs and schedules before our own, leaving little room for what really matters to us.
If time wasn’t something to be “managed,” but instead, something to be truly experienced, how would you spend it differently? What would you say “no” to? What would you say “yes” to, if you weren’t worrying about running out of time?
This week, try to take one thing off your plate that feels like a “should” or an obligation that doesn’t truly align with what matters most to you. In its place, add something you’ve been saying “no” to, but really want to say “yes” to—something that makes you feel more present, connected, or fulfilled. Even if it’s small, give yourself permission to experience time, not just manage it.

3 Sentences That Will Change Your Relationship With Food
Just something you might need to hear today 🙏
Rethinking What It Means to Be “Selfish” as a Mom
What if we’ve been thinking about “selfish” all wrong? What if taking care of ourselves wasn’t this evil, guilt-ridden act but something absolutely necessary? Because you cannot pour from an empty cup. And yet, so many of us are running on empty, feeling drained, and still trying to be everything for everyone.
EP158: Can We Do Something That Doesn’t Revolve Around Food?!
This isn’t about making food-focused hangouts a bad thing (because let’s be real, who doesn’t love a good meal?), but more about mixing it up—like when we were kids and just did stuff without needing a snack involved, lol. It’s really about getting comfortable doing things again.
See ya next week!
