I’m a recovered binge eater who changed the story from something that happened to me to something that happened for me. Now, I’m a licensed therapist teaching you to do the same.
My mission? To help you ditch food stress and live your life with mental peace and freedom every single day!
Welcome to The Perspective Shift! A weekly newsletter by Ryann Nicole designed to help you see food, your body, and healthy living in a whole new light.
IM SCREAMING. Charlotte just officially took her first steps! To say I was shocked would be an understatement. Not kidding, lol!
It was the purest, most exciting moment, and you know what? I was there—right in it. Fully present. I soaked in every little wobble, every step, and every proud smile.
**It was pure coincidence that someone got a video. I was in a mommy and me class, and they were recording because it was the first day. Ahh!
And that got me thinking…
How often are we truly present in these moments? Not just physically there, but really there. When food noise is constantly playing in the background—whether it’s the calorie-counting, meal planning, or obsessing over what we did (or didn’t) eat—those thoughts have a way of pulling us out of the moments that matter most. They steal our attention, making it hard to be fully engaged with the world around us.
I hear all the time that things aren’t ‘bad enough.’ But why is being distracted from life, not feeling present, still not bad enough? What’s the cost of not being in the moment?
Are you living or just existing? When you think about your day-to-day life, how often are you fully in it? Or are you distracted, thinking about the next meal, snack, or how your body looks?
Being present is about more than just showing up—it’s about truly experiencing what’s happening, right now. And sometimes, food noise makes that hard, pulling us into autopilot, where we go through the motions without really feeling connected.
This week, challenge yourself to be present in just one moment each day. It doesn’t have to be big—it could be something simple like enjoying a cup of coffee, a walk outside, or a conversation with someone you care about. When you feel food noise creeping in, gently bring your focus back to the moment in front of you. Feel the difference. You’ll be amazed at how much more vibrant life feels when you’re fully in it.
