I’m a recovered binge eater who changed the story from something that happened to me to something that happened for me. Now, I’m a licensed therapist teaching you to do the same.
My mission? To help you ditch food stress and live your life with mental peace and freedom every single day!
Welcome to The Perspective Shift! A weekly newsletter by Ryann Nicole designed to help you see food, your body, and healthy living in a whole new light.
The other day, I finally caved and started reading A Court of Thorns and Roses—you know, the book everyone seems obsessed with? And I totally get it now. I was hooked, flying through chapter after chapter, completely lost in this fantasy world.
But here’s the thing: I realized I was doing the same thing with the book that I used to do with food. I couldn’t stop. I kept thinking, “Just one more chapter, and then I’ll do something else,” but before I knew it, I’d spent hours reading, totally zoned in.
It made me think about how easy it is to get consumed by one source of pleasure. For me, in that moment, it was the book. For you, that might be food.
And that got me thinking…
If food is your only source of fun, it becomes the default—your go-to when you’re bored, stressed, or just looking for something to do. It starts to take up space in your mind, not because you’re hungry, but because it’s the only thing that feels exciting or comforting. When food is your primary source of joy, it makes sense that you’d constantly be thinking about it, planning your next meal, or craving that quick hit of pleasure.
When was the last time you had fun that didn’t involve food? What was it? How did it feel?
This week, try finding one non-food-related activity that brings you joy. Whether it’s a hobby, a new experience, or just playtime—give it a shot and see how it feels.
153. [Holiday Series #1] How Your Thinking Is Fueling Your Binges
The secret isn’t more control or hiding them in the back of the pantry or just individual packages (we’ve all tried that 🫢). The real answer? Healing your relationship with food.
This ONE THOUGHT can trigger a binge!
That single thought can trigger feelings of guilt and lead you down the path of “might as well eat it all now so it’s not here tomorrow.”
Classic all-or-nothing trap!!
Why It’s So Hard For You To Decide What To Eat
