Ryann Nicole The Perspective Shift

Hey There, I'm Ryann Nicole.

I’m a recovered binge eater who changed the story from something that happened to me to something that happened for me. Now, I’m a licensed therapist teaching you to do the same.

My mission? To help you ditch food stress and live your life with mental peace and freedom every single day!

The Perspective Shift

Welcome to The Perspective Shift! A weekly newsletter by Ryann Nicole designed to help you see food, your body, and healthy living in a whole new light.

Today I fed my daughter pancakes with almond butter, and this is what she left:

She knew when she was done. She didn’t just keep eating because there was food left. If I had let her, she would have given it to our dog Jack 🙃.

I didn’t tell her she needed to stop; she felt full, and that was her signal that she’d had enough.

And that got me thinking…

Something For You To Think About

You have been disconnected from your body for so long, you have no idea what hunger and fullness feels like. So then how do you expect yourself to listen to your hunger and honor your fullness (the premise of intuitive eating)?!

It’s not that intuitive eating didn’t work for you, it’s that you tried to do it before you were ready.

Get Honest and Reflect

What is your history with dieting? How long have you been dieting for? How long ago did you start ignoring your hunger and fullness?

*No judgment here. Just get honest with yourself!

Challenge Yourself This Week

The first step to reconnecting with your body is to introduce structure into your eating habits. Here’s how you can start:

  • Eat every 3-4 hours while awake.
  • Always place your food on a plate or in a bowl when eating.
  • Aim to balance your meals whenever possible.

Instead of focusing on tracking calories, macros, or points, assess your progress with these guidelines after each meal:

  • Did I eat within 3-4 hours of my last meal? (Yes or No)
  • Did I eat within 3-4 hours of waking up, if it’s your first meal of the day? (Yes or No)
  • Did I use a plate or bowl for my meal? (Yes or No)
  • Did I balance my meal? (Yes or No)

This structured approach is the first step toward reconnecting with your body, allowing you to make more intuitive choices.
